Because there can be confusion about the way, I have given directions to help:
If you come from Philippstein, you go from the forest path over a small bridge to the premises of the Diabas plant. You turn right and follow the company road to the factory entrance on the Kreisstrasse. Turn left there and walk about 100 meters to the intersection on the Kreisstrasse. The hiking trail to the Möttauer Weiher continues directly opposite on the other side of the intersection.
If you come from the pond, cross the intersection and follow the district road towards Philippstein. After a hundred meters, turn right onto the factory premises. Just keep left on the factory road. Shortly before the small factory buildings / containers there is a passage between hedges to a small bridge that leads to the hiking path towards Philippstein.

The 35 hectare diabase quarry belongs to the company Wilhelm Jost GmbH & Co KG and is located in 35619 Braunfels-Altenkirchen on the K 379.
The quarry has a crushing plant, a fine chippings plant and a screening plant.
Every year, 1 million tons of rock are broken in open-cast mines for road construction.
The asphalt mixing plant is further north on the K 379 in the direction of Philippstein.
