After the Second World War, areas were set up in the immediate vicinity of Dresden where the city's rubble that accumulated during the clearance could be disposed of. This resulted in some piles of rubble, including this one.

The backfill of Halde 1 offers an ideal place for a picnic break. It's hard to believe that soldiers used to drill, straighten artillery and helicopters of the former Soviet army circled in this quiet place. A clearly recognizable path through the meadow leads around heap 1. The meadow was created by depositing the rubble from the city of Dresden after the destruction in 1945. On the right-hand side is a recycling company for construction waste. On the west side of the stockpile, it is worth making a detour to stockpile 1. A sign indicates a moderate ascent at the point where the Hammerweg meets the hill. The detour, which is well worth it, is around two kilometers. The dump plateau is a large, grassy area from which we can see the south-west of Dresden, the Freitaler Windberg and the Radebeul vineyards.
