This year's hike begins in Düsseldorf-Benrath.
We walk through the Benrather Schlosspark, an area that is already unknown or long-forgotten for me, while Klaus knows every tree personally.
An impressive area, especially the park with its generously designed clarity, its many impressive sculptures and works of art, is a gem on this quiet Monday morning that we "walk through", not without thinking about the many hard-working people who once really built all this have, but mostly remain unmentioned even in comprehensive descriptions.
"It was built from 1755 to 1773 under the direction of Nicolas de Pigage (1723-1796) on behalf of Elector Karl Theodor von der Pfalz as a widow's seat for the Electress Elisabeth Auguste.
