The Castello Scaligero from the 13th century separates the old town Sirmione from the mainland. Many tourists frolic behind in the shops, restaurants and ice cream parlors of the old town. If you do not like it, choose the promende on the stone beach to get to the top.

The Scaligerburg (Castello Scaligero) is probably the most formative building in Sirmione.
The once purely military character of the fortress can still be seen today when you stroll over the high battlements and through the sober interior of the castle.
In contrast to the Scaligerburg in Malcesine, only a few living and utility rooms can be visited in the Sirmion fortress - instead, the castle inspires with a great view over Lake Garda and the harbor basin, strategically placed below its walls, in which the Lake Garda fleet was once located .
A total of 3 corner towers and one of what were formerly two drawbridges as well as a lapidarium with Roman and medieval stone works are open to the public.
A visit to the Scaliger castle Sirmione can also be combined with a walk through the city itself and a visit to the Grotte di Catullo, which is just a little further away at the tip of the headland.

A beautiful castle. It is worth visiting the castle too. From the top you have a beautiful view of the peninsula. The pedestrian zone also begins from here. Cars are only allowed with permits.
