The small castle stands on the former site of a moated castle and dates back to the 16th century in its current form. King Frederick William I spent much of his youth here and repeatedly fled to the idyllic Wusterhausen during his reign. His numerous visits and hunting trips to the castle earned the town the nickname "Königs Wusterhausen."

Today, the castle houses a museum. The centerpiece of the exhibition are 40 paintings painted by the king himself. After visiting the castle, you can stroll through the beautifully landscaped castle gardens. The former outbuildings surrounding the castle now house the castle café.

The palace was founded on a 14th-century moated castle. In 1682, the Great Elector Frederick William acquired the property for his son Frederick I, who in turn gifted it to his son Frederick William I, the later "Soldier King."

Today, it houses a cultural center. The palace once again serves as a museum.
