Really fantastic cave system. Is the largest show dripstone cave in Europe and the second largest in the world. Guided tours are available in several languages or via audio guide. With the tunnel train you drive into the mountain interior and can already gain a lot of great impressions here. It continues on, yes really, well-developed paths. The tour lasts about 1 ½ hours in total.
Recommended. Book in bundle with the cave castle Predjama. Also megatoll and about 7 km away.

If you have older students with you, like us, you still have the opportunity to enjoy the experience together. The paths are flat and non-slip.
After the train ride, you will walk about 1.5 km. However, it must be mentioned that right at the beginning of the tour you have to overcome an incline of 20% over approx. 100 meters and then a 20% decline. After that it's relatively flat, maybe with a short up and down.
If the incline/descent doesn't work anymore, you can stay on the train and get out again. You get some great impressions while driving. It was great for our grandpa
experience and he was also very enthusiastic. We younger people were then able to continue the tour as normal without feeling guilty.
So conclusion: there is an opportunity to experience the cave for all ages and health conditions.
There are various restaurants in front of the cave to fill the waiting time.

Take at least 2 hours of time with you. From inlet time 20min, until you take the train into the interior. Anyone who knows only caves on (in) the Swabian Alb is overwhelmed. Inside it runs about 1 hour. With German explanation by a guide and drives about 15 minutes. out again by train.

You should definitely have warm clothes, as it is cool in the cave between 8-10 degrees. If you have nothing, you can rent a warm cape at the entrance for 4 €. There is a large parking lot in front of the complex, the whole day costs passable 5 €.

If the Postojna Cave is too crowded for you in high season, you can go a few km further to the Škocjan Caves, which are no less impressive.
There is a guided tour (1) and you can explore a smaller section on your own (2). A flashlight also makes it quite interesting 😉
Both for 28€ plan around 2-4 hours and 6km in length.

If you are interested in the underworld, this is the place for you. The visit is very well organized. The group is classified by national language. It takes about 10 minutes with a train into the cave, then about 1.5 km on foot and back again by train. Very good explanation from the guide. The train ride alone is spectacular!
