Once a place of loss and mourning, the Plague Chapel is now an idyllic energy field. In 1661, the small Holy Trinity Filial Church – popularly known as the Bichl Church or Plague Chapel – was built for the victims of the plague. A golden high altar, the magnificent Rococo-style side altar, and the radiant white barrel vault give the Plague Chapel its special atmosphere.

Since the victims of the plague epidemic in the 17th century were not allowed to be buried on the Längenfelder side of the Ötztaler Ache, the Chapel of the Holy Trinity was erected for the mourners at the makeshift cemetery, which in the vernacular was quickly known only as a plague chapel.
