Always impressive: both the building and the view from the tower. There are separate stairs for going up and down - but this does not apply to the last few meters at the top of the tower. There is only one central staircase, and it is very narrow. When it is very busy, you may have to wait for five minutes, squeezed between other people and pressed against the stones, before you can continue. Even on hot and supposedly windless days, the wind can blow quite hard on the tower: so remember to wear appropriate clothing.

For centuries, it has shaped Ulm and the region, becoming virtually synonymous with the city of Ulm both at home and abroad: Ulm Minster. It owes this prominence primarily to its tower, the tallest church tower in the world at 161.53 meters.
Those who climb the 768 steps up to the 143-meter-high top viewing platform will enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Ulm in Baden-Württemberg and Neu-Ulm in Bavaria, and, on a clear day, a distant view of the Alps.
The foundation stone was laid on June 30, 1377.
Construction was halted in 1543 due to a lack of funds.
Construction did not resume until the mid-19th century.
First, the nave was stabilized, followed by the completion of the two choir towers.
Finally, in 1890, work on the main tower was completed.
513 years after construction began, Ulm Minster was completed!
To this day, Ulm Minster remains a vibrant church. The calendar lists more than 1,000 services and events annually.
