With the figure of the Saint jutting out from the 140m-high pinnacle, the castle ruins below used to dominate what is known as the Huerta de Murcia. El Cristo in particular was founded in 1926 and was rebuilt in 1951 after the Spanish civil war.
You reach the top of the castle through what is known as the "old path of Monteagudo" that used to join the paths of Alicante and Castile, giving importance to the town over the years and the different cultures (Argaric, Iberian, Roman and Arabs).
