The Trammeke on the Lange Brug in Het Riet is an old mobile dam that served as a lock system on the Grote Nete. It has been protected as a monument since 1999.

The Trammeke is located on the border of Herselt and Westerlo, 100m from Prince de Merode's Castle. It is an old, unique mobile dam on the Grote Nete and served as a lock or weir system.
It was built in 1874 to a design by P. Langerock and consists of two parts: the so-called 'Trammeke' is located on the Nete side of Herselt, and the pull mechanism is located on the Westerlo side.

The Trammeke was used to regulate the water level of the Grote Nete, so that the hay landscape could be irrigated after the first harvest. In this way a second haymaking was possible. At the same time, the transport of iron ore along the Grote Nete was facilitated and the water in the castle pond was refreshed.

The lock or weir system is still largely intact, but not in use.
