The August Schuster House, or "Pürschlinghaus", is located on the ridge of the same name at an altitude of 1,564 meters. The hut is open all year round, with the exception of April and November.

From there, hiking trails lead to the Teufelstättkopf (45 minutes) or the Sonnenberg (one hour) and crossings to the Brunnenkopfhütte (two to three hours) in the Ettaler Forest.

The Pürschlingshaus can be reached from Unterammergau in about two hours, from Oberammergau via the Kolbensattel in about two hours and from Linderhof Castle in about two to three hours. The food offered in the hut is good, down-to-earth and has a commendable price-performance ratio. However, the hut is also very popular, so you can expect a lot of public traffic, especially in the warmer months of the year.

Booking and information:

+++ Due to the fire protection renovation at the August-Schuster-Haus, there will probably not be any overnight accommodation until September 2020. The restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a kiosk (bottled drinks and small kitchen). +++

The August Schuster Haus directly below the Pürschling is definitely worth a detour. Nice service, good beer and great cake. The insider tip is the homemade goulash soup - very tasty😋 Only Kaiserschmarrn is served here - as it is not a former hunting lodge owned by King Ludwig 😊
