    Very beautiful hiking trail along the Holzbach. Especially in summer when it's hot, it's still very pleasant and refreshing because of the dense foliage of the trees and the proximity to the stream. Bicycles and horses are not allowed on the narrow but easily accessible paths, so you can relax and unwind. Due to its length and the rest areas where you can dip your feet in the cool water, it's also very suitable for families with small children. Everything can be rounded off with ice cream, coffee and cake at the nearby Dappricher Hof.

                The Holzbach Gorge is a narrow valley in the high Westerwald. The small Holzbach breaks through the volcanic basalt with its small waterfalls and flows into the Elbbach. There are many hiking opportunities through the Holzbach Gorge, from the 4 km long hiking trail R 29 to a long hike on the Westerwaldsteig. The Holzbach Gorge lies between the towns of Gemünden and Seck on the High Westerwald.

                          The Holbach Gorge is easy to walk through and offers many varied paths. There is always something to discover everywhere. Every now and then it is worthwhile to orientate yourself to the right or left of the path. The Holzbach dug its way through the basalt before flowing past Gemünden in the direction of Hesse. The gorge is approx. 1 km long and up to 30 m deep. However, sturdy shoes are recommended, as the paths are sometimes very narrow and slippery. As an additional reward, a visit to the Dappricher Hof with friendly service and a good selection of refreshments is worthwhile.

                                  In winter, snow and ice can make it very slippery. One should therefore be safe on foot. Otherwise choose a drier and warmer day to explore. Some of the paths are very narrow and there is a steep right or left into the gorge. Very beautiful and adventurous! But only partially recommendable in winter.
