The Sint-Pietersbos is the eastern extension of the Muziekbos. This former private forest covers over 52 hectares. The Muziekbos (50 hectares) was almost completely clear-cut during the First World War, but the Sint-Pietersbos was preserved. It boasts a unique collection of old summer oaks and American oaks, beeches, and ash trees, all 150 years old.

This nature reserve borders directly on the Muziek Forest and, across 57 hectares, is home to numerous rare plants and animals.

Because the forest was not logged during the First World War, you can still find pedunculate oaks, oaks, and ash trees that are over 150 years old and some with a circumference of up to four meters.

If you are very quiet and look closely, you might spot nuthatches, tawny owls, common buzzards, and black woodpeckers. Foxes, deer, and even the rare capercaillie also live in the surrounding fields.

The Sint-Pietersbos is an old 57-hectare nature reserve and connects to the 52-hectare Muziekbos.
The Sint-Pietersbos was bought by the Flemish government in 2011 from the noble family Gautier de Rasse. The forest area is partly a forest reserve.
