Malente has a castle, could that be? – Then it hides well. In fact it does. The abandoned building on Kellerseestrasse is overgrown with blackberries and bushes in summer. Even in winter, a spacious park and ivy-covered trees hide the castle, which is actually a big hoax.

Eggersdorf Castle is nothing more than a converted farmer's cottage, which has become larger and more magnificent with every change of ownership since 1856 and, from an architectural point of view, only develops its special charm when it falls into disrepair.

the rich and beautiful came and built summer houses on the lakes.

Artists, intellectuals, citizens, and other free spirits loved the romantic landscape and the brightly lit Kellersee with its light bays and wooded shores.
