The Black Moor is one of the few largely natural raised moors in the Hochrhön. Today, the Black Moor is one of the most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria and is strictly protected as a core zone in the UNESCO Rhön Biosphere Reserve. There are many information boards along the wooden boardwalk that provide information about the special features of the moor biotope and ecosystem.

Please note that the Black Moor is home to many rare and protected species and that it is a generally sensitive ecosystem. Therefore, please do not leave the boardwalk, do not pick plants, do not leave garbage, keep dogs on a leash and, out of consideration for other visitors, do not cycle over drive the bridge. Bicycle parking spaces and e-bike charging stations are available at the information point opposite.

The Black Moor, the observation tower and the wooden boardwalk are closed in the winter months.
The observation tower is currently closed due to construction work.
