A forest nature trail with mythological information boards is located in the Kettwig city forest. The starting point of the tour is the entrance board at the end of the street "An der Nittlau" next to the cemetery entrance. Every year, since 1989, a tree of the year has been chosen, which is bought every year with budget funds from District Council IX and planted with publicity.

"KETTWIGER PANORAMA CLIMATE"

It lives up to its name: on a route of around 35 kilometers along the Ruhr, the Kettwiger Panoramasteig offers unique panoramic views and also a very special nature experience; and this in the middle of the city of Essen.

The landscape on the trail is varied: hikers north of the Ruhr through steep forests, past large fields and along urban housing estates. To the south of the blue band of the Ruhr, forests alternate with agricultural areas. Along the paths there is not only a lot of greenery and nature for hikers, but also exciting sights to discover. There are also numerous places to stop for refreshments.
