Rhodes is one of the sunniest regions in Europe with over 3000 hours of sunshine a year. From mid-May to mid-September, little rain is expected. Sufficient water supply is ensured year round thanks to the limestone mountains. Among other things, the neighboring islands of Symi and Chalki are also supplied by ship deliveries.
Temperatures of up to 40 ° C are not uncommon in the months of July and August, and not only inland. The sea breeze, however, cools the temperatures on the west coast to about 28 to 32 ° C, on the east coast are then usually 35 to 40 ° C expected. The relatively low humidity makes the heat bearable. At night the temperatures drop to 23 to 20 ° C. The water temperature reaches about 27 ° C in August. Swimming is possible until November.
The coolest time is in the months of January and February. During the day, the temperatures are between 12 and 18 ° C, at night at 8 to 12 ° C. Frost can be practically ruled out, although snow falls on the Attavyros (1,215 m), the highest mountain in Rhodes. The lowest water temperatures are reached at the end of February or beginning of March at 16 to 17 ° C.
