A lovely place for a break: At Rhododendronpark Hobbie, Germany's largest and privately run rhododendron park, you can enjoy the scent of the many blossoms and simply relax amidst a sea of flowers, woodland, and ponds. You can refresh yourself in the adjoining park café if you need something.

After World War I, a farmer from Ammerland, named Hobbie, enjoyed rhododendrons. The passion of this farmer, sparked by a book, has become one of the most beautiful rhododendron gardens in the region. A visit to the garden - preferably during the flowering period in May - is highly recommended.

WIKIPEDIA says:

The park covers a total of 70 hectares, making it Germany's largest rhododendron park. In the meantime, over 250 rhododendron game species and several thousand varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas in all colors, shapes and variations have grown up there. The largest rhododendrons are over 9 m tall and over 85 years old. These are embedded in the more than 300 year old forest with native and exotic deciduous and coniferous trees, such as B. sequoia trees, bald cypresses, ginkgos, tulip trees, linden, pedunculate oak, holly, Caucasian spruce, giant arborvitae, Douglas fir, sitka spruce, some of which are explained in an educational forest trail. In the center of the park is a 10,000 m² pond, which is framed by a sculpture garden during the flowering period from April to mid-June.
