      The today Forsthaus Willroda (also Willrode) called building complex, listed in the list of castles in Thuringia, is a facility in the southeast of the Thuringian capital Erfurt. It is located in the Willroda Forest between Egstedt and Schellroda on the territory of the district Egstedt. The forester's house Willroda consists of several buildings that were built as a fortified estate and later rebuilt and expanded as a hunting lodge, then served as a forester's lodge (Wikipedia).

        Willrode was first mentioned in writing in 1204. The buildings and ramparts were built in the 14th century. The forester's house Willrode is a gem of cultural history and is one of the most important architectural monuments in the Erfurt area. It is considered a popular destination and meeting place for hikers and cyclists.

                On September 9, 2012, the successful completion of the renovation was celebrated at the Willroda Forester's House on the Day of the Open Monument. The "Association of Friends and Supporters of the Willrode Forester's House" also celebrated its 20th anniversary. The estate is now owned by the Free State of Thuringia and is under the management of the State Forestry Administration. It houses the Thuringian Forestry Office and is a cultural meeting place and popular tourist destination.
