An existing drawing well was expanded in 1727/28 to a representative pump well with a statue of Johannes Nepomuk. The pump station was built by the Rastatt master builder Johann Peter Ernst Rohrer, the pump levers were ordered from a Strasbourg bell foundry.

Saint Nepomuk was especially revered in Bohemia, the home of Margravine Sibylla Augusta, as the patron saint of confession, the dying, the boatmen and rafters. In 1893 the fountain was completely restored and the ornate wrought iron grille was installed.

An existing well was expanded in 1727/28 into a representative pumping well with a statue of Johannes Nepomuk. The pumping station was built by the Rastatt master builder Johann Peter Ernst Rohrer. The pump levers came from a Strasbourg bell foundry.

People in Bohemia in particular venerated Saint Nepomuk as the patron of the secret of confession, the dying, boatmen and raftsmen. In 1893 the fountain was fundamentally restored and the ornate wrought iron grille was added.
