The route from Rheine station to Lutum station near Billerbeck in the Baumbergen is simply fantastic for leisurely cycling, as there are many rest houses that invite you to have a picnic, as well as many places to stop for refreshments on the left and right of the route that are well signposted.
The route is also very nice for sporty tours on a racing bike, because apart from a few intersections you are almost always away from car traffic and the surface (asphalt) is in good condition.
In autumn there are of course a lot of leaves and small branches on the path, but that is the case everywhere at this time of year.

The RadBahn Münsterland is a 39.4 km long railway line cycle path on the former route from Rheine to Coesfeld (then timetable route 284), a section of the Duisburg-Quakenbrück railway line. The name of the cycle path was given in autumn 2011 and replaces the previous project name Schlossallee Radweg Rheine – Coesfeld.[1]

After operations ended for local passenger transport in 1984 and finally for freight transport in 1999, the former railway tracks were quickly overgrown with grass, bushes and trees.

In 2008, the neighboring towns and communities decided to buy the disused railway line and convert it into a cycle path. This was also supported by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The construction costs amounted to around 6.4 million euros, of which the state paid 5.2 million euros.
