L’any 1951 la delegació catalana de la llavors Federació Espanyola de Muntanyisme va habilitar com a refugi l’antic Hostal de la Font del Faig, ubicat en un enclavament estratègic al peu del coll de Pendís. Some time later, the precarious condition of the building led to the owners giving the FEEC a neighboring plot of land to build a new shelter. Thanks to the financial support of the Diputació de Barcelona, a facility was built that was inaugurated in October 1961. Although the architectural structure of the building has been maintained - in fact it is the same as in the shelters of Estanys de la Pera and Serra d'Ensija- currently Sant Jordi is a very cozy and comfortable refuge. The refuge is a crossing point for the Cavalls del Vent crossings, Alta Ruta del Cadí, Muntanyes Màgiques and the Camí dels Bons Homes. Also, access via the PR-C 125, a beautiful excursion that runs through the Empedrats, the old royal road of the Cerdanya, following the spectacular and boxy valley of the river Pendís, is a totally recommended experience. In terms of ascents, the star of the area is the Penyes Altes del Moixeró (2,276 m), the most charismatic peak in the Moixeró mountain range.
