The Moretusbos, also known as the Castle Park, owes its existence to Jonker Johannes Josephus Moretus, who had it built in the mid-18th century as part of his Ravenhof estate. In exchange for a good sandwich, he involved almost the entire and impoverished population of Putte in the construction of the forest. These people turned a barren, barren heathland into an area with leafy forests, avenues and beautiful terraces.

The park forest was designed according to the plans of Versailles. The Moretusbos has many beautiful lanes, height difference, distant views, a tea house, walking paths, terraces and symmetrical "star groves". Nature was ordered according to the then prevailing Baroque garden style. Characteristic of the park forest is the central (symmetry) axis, which runs from Ravenhof Castle to the De Gloriëtte tea house, a magnificent building in Roccoco style from 1768. From there all avenues lead into the forest.

The forest consists of mature beech, Scots pine and rhododendron applied in the later years, popularly referred to as "flowers".

The 'Moretusbos' is a forest and former estate west of the 'North Brabant village' Putte. It covers 77 hectares and is owned by the State Forestry Service. It contains a star forest, all kinds of dikes and a water feature. The eighteenth-century Gloriëtte in the forest is a national monument.

In the Grenspark you will find many old and young forests, including in the Moretusbos. The young forests are mostly production forests created in the nineteenth century. Then many heathlands were sold to private individuals. The trees did well on the meager heather soil and soon supplied good wood that they sold to industry. A number of production forests can still be found in this area.
