We made the tour to the Etna on 7.8.18. Unfortunately, the mountain behaved like a diva and was only covered. From the Boca Nuova, the stage destination, came fog clouds that were very much interspersed with sulfur fumes. The breathing was correspondingly exhausting to painful.
The view was sometimes only a few meters.
For that we were rewarded more during the descent. Our local guide led us through a sunken channel through which the lava flowed during the 2002/3 eruption

Tips:
Registration for the tour directly at "Gruppo Guide Alpine Etna Sud" until 9.00 am on site. Mountain guides are required.
Headband or hat recommended. On the summit, a cold wind whistles around the ears
A cloth or similar as a mouthguard. As a result, the sulfur-containing gases are somewhat alleviated.
