The Old Salt Office is one of the oldest buildings in Bad Dürrenberg and was built in the 15th century. It served as the administration building of the saltworks and is now a hotel.
Directly below the Borlach tower (after Johann Gottfried Borlach, the Saxon engineer who was responsible for the water art for the extraction and extraction of the brine) is the "brine spring" at a depth of 223m; Here, since 1763 (!) large pumps have been pumping up several "floors". - What an achievement!
