As early as the Middle Ages, people were growing wine here at the foot of the Beninksberg. The conditions for this are perfect: Thanks to their southern orientation, the vineyards are protected from cold winds, and the ironstone soil gives the wines their typical taste.

Today you will find 1,400 vines here: Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir from the eighties, which were later supplemented with Bacchus, Chardonnay, Dornfelder and Pinot Gris.

What would Hageland be today without a wine producer here and there? Here on the Beninksberg - of course on the south side - you will find this vineyard with approximately 1400 vines. Unlike the vineyards of other villages, such as in Houwaart, this vineyard is closed, in the sense that you can look but you can't really get closer. You can visit the vineyard by appointment and you will find the information at the various gates along the St. Jobspad that provide access to it. Make sure that you don't get carried away when admiring the vines and views, because this road is popular with down-and-out enthusiasts with two wheels. This plot was called "Den Graeven Bergen" in 1840. The reason why the vineyard, which has been there since 1980, produces wines marketed under the name Graevenberger, is therefore quite obvious. You can visit the lovely Ten Bunder vineyard in Nieuwrode. Beautifully situated on a sunny slope with a view of the village church.
