The pass connects Munster in the east with Gerardmer in the west and lies at the apex of 1,138 meters above sea level. Also this pass is a true classic of the Tour de France with meanwhile ten runs: in 1931, 1957, 1961, 1969, 1970, 1973, 1992, 2005, 2009 and 2014, the best of cyclists tormented on it. If he is not locked for the tour, he is unfortunately very busy.

The pass impresses with several possibilities of approach. From Colmar, the road is pretty busy. Here it is not recommended to drive, but to use the side roads at LacBlanc and then via Trois-Epis.
From LacBlanc (and thus from Bonhomme) it is wonderful in summer. Only the motorcyclists are to be considered.
From the other direction, the Route de Cretes comes down from Hohneck. Here with parking and many hiking tourists. But very beautiful.
The best part is the climb from Geradmer. It is not advisable to drive over the Budnes road (although the Roche du diable is worth a detour), but to turn off to the Lac du Longemer and take the steeper climb up to the pass road in purchasing.
The Col itself is waiting for a great summer toboggan run and a very acceptable restaurant.

The pass is known more for its name than for its beauty, as it is very busy. The road into the Münstertal is still a sensible descent, as it is well paved for the Vosges (and the traffic is less disturbing on the descent).

This pass is my favorite in the Vosges mountains. In addition to its glorious past on the Tour, it has the advantage of being more isolated than an alpine pass and represents a nice cycling challenge.

Nice get over the Hill, but with lots of traffic during summer, especially Moto-Bikes. From here you can explore lots of routes in the Vosges.

The Col de la Schlucht (German: Schluchtpass) is a 1139 m high pass in the Vosges and an important traffic axis between the regions of Alsace and Lorraine.
The D 417 country road (Route départementale 417) over the Col de la Schlucht connects the cities of Munster in the east and Gérardmer in the west. At the Col de la Schlucht, the pass road crosses the Route des Crêtes, a 77 km long mountain road that runs from Lac Blanc to Cernay and always stays at an altitude of around 1000 meters. The D 61 also flows into the pass from the north and the D 430 meets the D 417 from the south a few hundred meters west of the pass.

This side of the driveway is very scenic. The view in this section is very nice. The pass height, however, worthwhile by the many motorcyclists and the construction sites not to stay.

Central point in the Vosges, nice route to or from Münster. However, there is also corresponding excursion traffic and tourism at the summit. Great as an entry or end point for the Route des Crêtes. From Fraize or Plainfang, a route with significantly less traffic leads to the Col.

In the upper section, the approach to the Col de la Schlucht then really spectacular, after she leads down rather quietly through the forest. Here the road is built in a steep and rocky slope, leads through a short tunnel and then runs rather flat to the pass.

The driveway from Munster is only moderately steep and runs very smoothly. Mostly tranquil through the forest, only in the last section also spectacular by a steep and rocky slope. A lot of traffic, especially popular with motorized bikers - so if possible, rather early in the day driving.
