The castle Bergerhausen was once the seat of the Knights of Bergerhausen. The archbishopric of Cologne acquired the castle and the associated lands in the 13th century to secure its dominion.

The beautifully preserved castle can now be rented for celebrations, weddings or filming. The beautifully landscaped castle park with the wide moat is however freely accessible.

Schloss Bergerhausen is an old moated castle, which formerly secured the Duchy against Jülich with 2 other castles. The old outbuildings outside of the moat still consist partly of the half-timbered construction, which was generally used until the 19th century.
