This small, sheltered cove is flanked by a self-recording tide gauge (instrument) to measure the height of the tides.
Moreover, you look straight at the Tour Solidor. The 27m high tower, which was erected in 1382 and restored in the 17th century, dominates the Rance estuary. Once a prison, it now houses the Musée du Long Cours Cap Hornier.

The keep was built between 1369 and 1382, by Duke Jean IV of Brittany in order to have control over the Rance at a time when the city of Saint-Malo was rebelling against its authority. In particular, taxes should be levied on the goods transported. The tower was built on an already fortified site, the Tour d'Oreigle, also called Tour Aiquin and which included a small châtelet, transformed into a guardhouse for the new complex and a fortified enclosure, itself built on Gallo fortifications.
