The Gaishorn is with 2,249 meters the highest mountain in the Tannheimer valley and the climb is a great mountain tour. If you do not want to get on and off the same way, you should climb over the longer path from north to the summit. The serpentine path over the boulder field, which leads here to the summit, is quite uncomfortable in the descent, while the way south to the Vilsalpe runs mainly over Berwiesen.
Regardless of whether from Tannheim or from Vliesalpsee, the 1,000 meters of altitude must be done and in the upper part (from the Rossalpe) there is still real climbing!
We went the tour from the car park west in Tannheim over the Älpele and the north side to the summit. The ascent in the boulder field has it all. The descent, also on the north side, was less exhausting than expected. Nevertheless, absolute concentration is needed.
