MOULINS SOUTERRAINS DU COL-DES-ROCHES
In the 17th century, the millers of Le Locle converted the cave to take maximum advantage of the underground waterfall and installed five water wheels that powered grain mills, threshing machines and saws. As a veritable factory in a rock grotto, the facility is an impressive testimony to human courage and inventiveness.
As you climb down, you can admire the restored and newly furnished grain mill, which is powered by water power.
To complement this adventurous journey into the interior of the earth, a visit to the museum, which shows the regional history, is recommended.

The Col-des-Roches Underground Mills are a set of mills and underground tunnels built in the 17th century to harness the power of an underground river.
