North of the "Vogelkoje Meeram" on Amrum lies for many years an archaeological excavation area. There were found settlement traces from the Iron Age and Neolithic megalithic tombs. On a historical basis, an iron-age house was built in 2014 on a scale of 1: 1 true to the original.
The reconstructed Iron Age house is a residential stable house, as it was built since the Bronze Age. It is aligned in the east-west direction like the other discovered buildings in the archeological area, in order to offer as little attack surface as possible to the locally prevailing west winds. The framework of the house consists of a construction of oak logs and larch roofing lumber. The Iron Age house is 15 meters long, five and a half meters wide and 4.3 meters high. For the replica, the craftsmen used just grown pedunculate oaks, which were probably used in the original. The house walls are made up of grass or heather. The thatched ridge roof is supported by pairs of wooden posts set in the house, which were buried in the ground.

The replica of an Iron Age house stands in the area of the archaeological area opened in June 2011 at the Vogelkoje Meeram nature experience area on the North Sea island of Amrum (North Frisia district, Schleswig-Holstein). The building in the northwest of the municipality of Nebel was rebuilt in 2014 according to plans by the architect Peter Heck-Schau. The Ministry of Environment of Schleswig-Holstein issued an exceptional permit for the construction of the reconstruction at the original site in what is now the Amrumer Dünen nature reserve.
