Located at the western end of the island of Madeira, the viewpoint from the lighthouse at Ponta do Pargo offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the rock formations that characterize the entire environment. It is a unique place that deserves a careful visit.
This observation point is located on Ponta da Vigia, the westernmost cape of the island. It rises on a 290-meter-high cliff and offers a view of the surrounding coastal region, characterized by imposing cliffs and places of interest such as the town of Achadas da Cruz, which belongs to the district of Porto Moniz.
As its name suggests, the place where the viewpoint from the lighthouse at Ponta do Pargo is located is characterized by a historic lighthouse. This infrastructure, at the top of the hill, began operating in June 1922. The tower is 14 meters high and the spot is at a height of 312 meters. It has been classified as a Cultural Heritage of Local Value by the Regional Government.

The lighthouse is located on the westernmost tip of Madeira. The nearest mainland is America.
The lighthouse is 312 m above sea level, making it the highest signal light in Portugal. Its light range is about 80 miles.
There is also a small museum in the lighthouse.
The circular route is very beautiful and you pass the Miradouro do Fio. From here you have an amazing view of the rugged coast, which is of volcanic origin.
