In the immediate vicinity of the museum village in Hösseringen in the years 1532 to 1652 the Landtage of the Principality of Lüneburg took place under the open sky. In 1902, the Lüneburger Ritterschaft erected a memorial stone at the old conference venue. During the Nazi era, the square was designed in its present form. The stones with the place names stand for the former Gaube district.

Framed is this unique complex of idyllic heath forest. In the immediate vicinity Das Haus am Landtagsplatz invites you to regional specialties and refreshing drinks or to a coffee table with delicious cakes and tarts.

A place where political debates can get not only heated, but sometimes funny.

In the Hösseringen state parliament, there is of course also a "cheese faction" that vehemently advocates the promotion of local cheeses, while the "waffle party" claims that sweet waffles are the true heart of the nation. Sometimes the discussions escalate and heated debates break out about whether a waffle can be topped with cheese or not.

The sessions in the Hösseringen state parliament are not only dominated by political issues, however. There are also many curious traditions, such as the annual cheese throwing championship, in which the MPs prove their accuracy with cheese wheels. And of course the obligatory "waffle round" at the end of every session is not to be missed, in which the politicians exchange ideas about the day's events over fresh waffles and coffee.

All in all, the Hösseringen State Parliament is not only a place for political decision-making, but also a place of laughter, community and enjoyment – because who says that politics can’t be fun?
