One of the largest and oldest chestnut trees in Hungary (gentle chestnut - Castanea sativa) stood in this place in the Királyvölgy.
At the height of the chest, this wooden palsalem had a circumference of nearly 10 meters and a diameter of 3 meters. The height of the tree was 15 m and the diameter of its crown was 24 m.

In 1917, its owner donated it to the city of Kőszeg - the deciduous tree, which was still rich at that time, gradually dried up over the decades. His fate was finally sealed in 1964, and that year no branch had sprouted. In February 1981, it was decided to cut down the tree.

The locals thought it was 800 years old. The inner part of the tree was rotten, it was pale, so its exact age can only be estimated: around 1482, during the reign of King Matthias, the tree could have been driven out for the first time (so it lived for almost 500 years).
