The Schaesberg cross (named after the hill it stands on) is accessible via a turnstile on the side of the road, near the brewery. This is not actually a public road, but the owner allows the public access on condition that they do not destroy the fences or throw rubbish in the meadow. The cross was erected in 1979 by the KLJ of Hombourg on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary. It is 13m high and is anchored in the ground to a depth of 2m. From the Schaesberg, at a height of 275m above sea level, you can see both the three countries (B, NL, D) and the three regions of Belgium. You can also see the highest point of Flanders (between Merckhof and Hagelstein: 285m) and that of the Netherlands (the Three Borders: 325m).

Please only go up from the brewery car park and back here. The old train station is lower and somewhere else.
