The picturesque location of the castle Rheinstein enchanted in 1823 the Prince Frederick of Prussia, who also bought the castle promptly. At that time, the castle was little more than a dilapidated ruin, but after several years of reconstruction, the Prince could move into his domicile. The castle was then built with careful preservation of the medieval fabric to a romanticized residential castle.

This form is preserved to this day and can be visited. The castle now houses a museum and an adjoining restaurant. In addition, the view from the wall and from the towers down to the Rhine Valley is simply picturesque. If you can not get enough of the castle, then you should also look at the accommodation offers.

Well-preserved castle above the Rhine Valley. Unfortunately, even if you just want to eat or for a snack in the restaurant that is otherwise inaccessible within the castle grounds, in addition a steep admission required (5 euros per person!)
