Hambach Castle is nice to look at on its hill, but that's not the main thing. Walking there “up, up to the castle” and being at the birthplace of German democracy, breathing in the breath of this place and then also visiting the very nice and helpful exhibition is a must for anyone who likes history and democracy. The staff are happy to explain everything about the historical background, and the exhibits are very informative.

Not worth visiting for a hike, one should stay longer and enjoy the place. Up, up to the castle and at the latest on the way home, eating and drinking - just like back then.

Absolute highlight in the region. Due to the historical importance of the Hambach Festival this castle is maintained like no other. From that point of view, it makes an extremely neat impression - one might even think that it is a new building made of "old" .... Inside there is a restaurant and an interesting museum.

Apart from the beautiful view of the Rhine plain from the exposed hill and the well-preserved and restored castle: a visit should be a duty, especially nowadays, when you miss in many areas a democratic spirit ...
But then take more time and extend the hike by one or two hours.
