Lichtenberg Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1196. The oldest component is the keep. The facility is in very good condition. It is not for nothing that Lichtenberg Castle is one of the oldest, fully preserved Staufer castle complexes north of the Alps. Be sure to take a look at the chapel next to the gate with its decorative wall paintings.
The gates of the castle are open from April to October every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry is 3 euros.

Those coming from the east can take a moderate ascent via Kleinaspach via Sinzenburg and Neuwirtshaus. So you don't necessarily have to take the steep Weinbergweg from the farm. The ascent behind Lembach (east of the vineyards high) is not that steep either.
