The Col d'Aubisque is a true myth of the Pyrenees. Culminating at 1,709 meters above sea level, it is difficult to separate from its neighbor: Soulor. The climb from Laruns is 16.6 kilometers long for an average of 7.17%. It crosses the Eaux-Bonnes spa resort as well as the Gourette ski resort. The slope towards Soulor constitutes a magnificent belvedere over the Litor cirque.

According to the mountain price classification, the east side of the Col d'Aubisque (1st category) is slightly easier than the west side (Hors Category). This is mainly because the Col du Soulor, which you first have to climb from the east, involves a small intermediate descent. A good opportunity for your legs to regenerate!

On the west side of the pass you notice that you are getting closer and closer to the Atlantic and steadily moving away from the Mediterranean. The Vallée d’Ossau, into which you depart, already belongs to the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department – cool and damp Atlantic weather sends its regards.
