The Brünnlkapelle was first mentioned in documents in 1793. At that time the picture of grace, a copy of the image of Our Lady by Lucas Cranach the Elder Founded for the chapel. The original of the picture is in Innsbruck. In 1804 the chapel had to be demolished by order of the state, the picture of grace came to the parish church in Baumgartner.
At the urging of the population, a smaller wooden chapel was built on the old square right at the source in 1838. In 1849, a large chapel construction began a hundred meters above the old site. After completion, the chapel was inaugurated on Easter Tuesday 1850.
In 1976 the chapel needed a major renovation with underpinning work and new foundations. When redesigning the interior, the numerous votive panels, some of which still come from the old chapel, were removed from the gable end, hung in the chapel's apse and secured by a grille in the choir arch. In the 1980s, there were enormous cracks in the altar area and severe damage to the stucco of the choir arch and the windows.
A comprehensive renovation began in March 1998. The roof was completely renovated, the roof truss partially renewed due to serious defects and the choir arch with core drilling and heavy screwing - hung vertically and horizontally. The tower had to be stabilized and re-roofed.
