Hikes to Dollywaggon Pike take you to the final high outpost of the magnificent Helvellyn ridge before it drops down to Grisedale Tarn. The panorama is sensational. Fairfield and St Sunday Crag’s mountainous masses are seen close at hand, scowling across the void. Meanwhile, a vast swathe of Lakeland unfurls to the west. All the major summits of the south and west groups are visible on a sea of ridges and peaks.

What a great summit. I've approached Dollywaggon Pike from both Grisedale Tarn and from Nethermost Pike/Helvellyn and I absolutely love the views from up here. One thing on my 'to hike' list is 'The Tongue' - an approach to the summit via the north east ridge.

Amazing views on a clear day, it's quite the hike up from Grizedale tarn but definitely worth it, and only a short walk to Nethermost pike and Helvellyn.
