The way to Hünenberg is beautiful from all sides. Whether from two loops or from Olderdissen. You have to scramble a little.

The beginnings of the approximately 2.8 hectare fortification were measured with radiocarbon in the period 200 ± 71 BC. Dated BC, are therefore in the pre-Roman Iron Age. The mountain peak and the upper part of the southwestern mountain slope are surrounded by a ring-shaped earth terrace with a rough trapezoidal shape. It delimits an area of approximately 400 by 300 meters. A short piece of a dry stone wall was dug out, which had been placed in front of a two-meter-wide wooden structure. Since a quarry was operated on the southern slope of the hill in the Middle Ages, a lookout tower was built on the hill in the 19th century and two television towers were built in succession in the 20th century, many prehistoric traces have been lost.
Signs were found that the inside of the rampart was also used as a meeting or cult place.

The oldest remains of the former Fliehburg probably come from the pre-Roman Iron Age. A quarry operated in the Middle Ages and the construction of the two telecommunications towers probably destroyed most of the early-historical traces. The ridge path of the Teutoburg Forest leads past the ruin. The trail is very popular with hikers and mountain bikers.
