Here is a natural viewing terrace with a wonderful view of the Werra valley to the south. There are benches, some of which are covered, and there is also a small observation tower so that the view does not become overgrown again so quickly. In the foreground is the stick-making village of Lindewerra. The reflections in the Werra are also very photogenic.

Next to the Teufelskanzel there is a lookout point that offers a fantastic view of the Werra Valley. There was an observation point for border controls during the GDR era.

Unfortunately, the view towards Lindewerra on the former Kolonenweg is somewhat overgrown.
The Kolonenweg has now been pretty much reclaimed by nature and is very steep, as can be seen in the elevation profile.

We had to push the bikes. Accessible only by mountain bike, including downhill. Driving was too dangerous for us. According to a former border guard we met "the steepest part of the inner-German border". I don't doubt it. But the way was worth it for the view

You should/can enjoy the view in every season.
View of the town of Lindewerra and a Werra loop.

Danger. You partly walk on the old GDR column path. You have to be careful not to put your foot in such a depression in the concrete slabs: this can be painful.

The shortest route from Lindewerra leads very steeply over the former column path. You always have the feeling that the next bend is the last, but then one, two, three follow - many more after 😂
But the effort is quickly forgotten with this fantastic view 🤩
