In 1955 the construction of the Adenauer Villa began. The building was intended to serve as a guest house, hunting lodge and private home for the then Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. When it became known that his son-in-law was involved in the planning, there was talk of corruption and construction was stopped in 1956 and never continued again. Today a Cologne entrepreneur is the owner of the ruin. Entering the building is prohibited. For this reason the building is fenced in with a site fence.

In the Eifler Kammerwald, located between Prüm, Stadtkyll and Gerolstein, there is a 605 meter high hill between the communities of Duppach and Steffeln, the ruinous remains of the never completed Adenauervilla - also popularly known as "Adenauerhaus" or "Camp Konrad" (the latter supposedly based on the Recreation facility of the American presidents "Camp David" in the US state of Maryland).
The villa was intended as a gift to Chancellor Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967, Federal Chancellor 1949-1963) and was intended to serve as a retirement home, hunting lodge and guest house. Because of a certain smell of felt and corruption and also because the former chancellor did not want to accept the gift (for that reason?), The construction work that had started in 1955 was stopped in the winter of 1955/56.
One of the popular Eifel crime novels by the author Jacques Berndorf brought the ruin of the villa back to some attention after 1998. At the end of 2018, a new owner was sought for the ruin.
