The castle was destroyed in 1945 and was a ruin. You could not imagine that the castle would be rebuilt again. The construction was a tremendous financial and craft achievement.

The permanent exhibition “Pückler! Pückler? Simply hard to believe ”and the castle café. Changing exhibitions can be seen on the second floor. The term "New Castle" is misleading because it is not a replacement for the "Old Castle", which was originally a gatehouse. The New Castle - is the actual castle. In 1945 a fire started by Soviet soldiers destroyed the castle down to the outer walls.
