The town of Seligenstadt am Main is very popular with cyclists not only because of the well-known local ice cream parlors. There is also much to discover. For example, the Einhard basilica with the beautiful monastery garden invite you to linger. In addition to the monastery complex there are still many buildings to admire with half-timbered and also the town hall, the city fortifications, the water tower or one of the five museums are tourist attractions.

Collegiate church and monastery garden (with herb garden). Remains of a Roman fort. A beautiful old town market square with a cozy Christmas market. And for the summer, a good selection of ice cream parlors—four for the small town, if I remember correctly. We always go to Eis-Kaiser (Update July 2025: Eis-Kaiser closed its shop some time ago; now it's called 'Buon Gelato' AND Eis Kaiser is still on the premises). It's a street vendor with no seating, but the ice cream tastes as if it weren't made with any ready-made powder. A notice in the shop reads: "We don't use disposable packaging or containers."

Seligenstadt has a large number of historic buildings and half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, some of which are listed. That is why the city is also part of one of the nine routes of the German Half-timbered Road (Route Rhein-Main-Odenwald).
Most of these two- to three-story half-timbered houses are on the market square and in the surrounding streets.
