The "High Bridges" lie in the headwaters of the Ilke. It is the name for a forest site where old hunting trails between Pillnitz and Lohmen cross the notch valleys on bridges from the time of the Electorate of Saxony.
The rulers also went hunting in this area and rode between the castles and palaces in Pillnitz, Lohmen and Stolpen. The bridges made the ride more comfortable, since the horses didn't have to go down into the valley and up again. And they (the bridges, not the horses) gave the landscape an additional charm because they were also built for the eye. The manuscripts of Marcolini and his architect F. Exner were clearly recognizable on the Hohe Brücke with its archways and arched floors, it was said on the no longer networked inn pages.

In 1789 ten "High Bridges" were built on the Upper Hunting Trail by the architect Johann Daniel Schade, on behalf of the Elector Friedrich August III. The high bridges were not only intended to be functional buildings, but were also erected in the early romantic period according to landscape architecture. In the middle of the bridge there is a stone that depicts a crown on one side, on the inside of the stone is the bridge number as a Roman number. Bridge 10 is the most impressive of the high bridges as a viaduct (see photo).
