    In 1958 this iron bar was found during the excavation of a house in the Joaswerk. He was then forgotten in a garage for another 50 years and, fortunately, came back to daylight.

          This iron bar was found in 1958 during excavation work on a house in the Joaswerk. It then lay forgotten in a garage for another 50 years and, thanks to a fortunate circumstance, came to light again.
          The iron ore found in the area was won in a blast furnace in the middle of the village and poured into this ingot form ("Geuse"). This material, which still contained a lot of carbon, was transported to the early forges "Hammer°" or "Joaswerk" and reheated in a further process and formed into forgeable iron.
