Industrial history you can touch! On the site of what was once the largest marshalling yard in Berlin, there is now an enchanted nature park. You can discover traces of its past everywhere: overgrown tracks, a parked steam engine, an impressive water tower and an old engine shed. The old tunnel system in the so-called Tälchenweg is particularly exciting. This is one of the few areas in Berlin where graffiti artists are legally allowed to decorate the walls.

There hasn't been a train here since 1952, but the history of the site remains present through the relics of the railway era. There is an old class 50 steam locomotive on the site. The water used to run the railway was supplied by the 50 meter high steel water tower, the park's landmark that can be seen from afar. Numerous water cranes, light poles, rail tracks and switches are also reminiscent of the history of the railway. One of the oldest turntables in Germany is also part of the inventory. The two preserved listed buildings are further witnesses to the past: in the bridge maintenance room there is a café on the ground floor and the park administration on the upper floor.

Very nice and well-kept area with lots to discover. It is definitely worth the entry of currently one euro. However, it should be noted that the machine does not give change. So you should have the money right.
